Time to Bring Home the Beer Bet, Just to Start With

Looking at the last post I see it was January the last time I put anything up here. Does that mean I have been too busy training to find time to record what Ive done? Or is it that I have done nothing and hence have nothing to write?

For all the beer betters out their, Yes.

Looking forward to next weekend and a chance to start testing out the legs in a concocted multi day race. I still have a great interest in participating in multi stage, multi day 'events and this weekend coming will give me a good start in seeing how the body is going to handle it.

I know Saturdays 6ft track has the potential to rip your legs apart. So in my mind this is the perfect start to a testing weekend. Certainly this year I would expect to take at least 30 minutes off last years time, if not more. Purely on a revision of the intensity applied at various sections of the course. I still believe that run to feel is the way to go however this year I will have new 'feel' targets to aim at.

The big test will come with the Huskie Long Course on the Sunday. Again I know what to expect, having done my first long course at 16 yrs of age back in 1991. However the potential is there having stopped and travelled in the car all afternoon for the legs to make it more painful than it needs to be. I have to say my biggest concern would have to be significant cramps in the swim. Might just hang around near Mr Paddle board to be safe. The ride and run aren't worrying me. At that point every step forward takes you closer to the finish.

The aspect I have no measure on though is how my time will pan out. I actually live in hope that it wont be that much slower (if at all) than Canberra late last year. Having put in a solid run the Sat morning before this one and having covered multitudes more KMs on the bike than for Canberra. I certainly cant see myself running slower than Canberra. They would be shutting the course down behind me.

So a last week of taper, throwing in 3 days organising the NSW all schools tri to keep me honest, and its time to settle some scores with my mind and body. If all works well maybe the Blaxland, Lawson, Wentworth run may get rolled out in 2011.
