Back out and about

It has been a couple of weeks of juggling a busted up ankle and slightly dented energy stores. But it seems I have found a bit of running mojo hiding some where inside again and have managed a few shorter runs this week again. Boy is it good to be back out again.

Through the week a couple of visits to Knapsack Reserve for the espresso run in cruisie 31-29 minute range and then this morning a bit of a recce around Birdwood Gully from Dr Phils. The recce uncovering what I think would be a great 'come try trail running' course. Aimed at people currently doing 5-10km road runs, looking to have a good off road. It has a technical desent early when runners are fresh, great single track running in the gully following the creeks, two mid run climbs up stairs to water stations and a very challenging climb to finish. All this in just 6km of running.

This afternoon it's back into cross country with my first run at met west cross country for about 10 years. Looking forward to it. Even though the fitness and leg speed will be no where near ready. As for that double up weekend not so long ago. With holidays ahead I may even find time to reflect and write a bit about it.

And before I go to feed her, a song for Genevieve (given the recent arrival of Samuel):
